Lesson 1 A and D, Lesson 2 A
A
Light behaves like waves
Light demonstrates most of the wave behaviors
Reflection
Bounce off obstacles
Refraction
Occurs when light waves move from one medium to another
Diffraction
Light waves changes direction as the wave passes through an obstacle or opening
D
Light waves are electromagnetic
Light waves come in many directions, this is called un-polarized light
Light can be polarized through a lens that only lets light in the same direction enter
Polarization by reflection
Happens when light bounces off of no-metallic surfaces
Like driving on a wet road at night
Polarization by refraction
Perpendicular to the surface
Like a straw in a cup
Polarization through scattering
Happens when light is scattered through a medium
All of the light essentially vibrates together
Used to show #-d Movies and in CD's
Section 2
A
Light is an electromagnetic wave
Does not need a medium to travel
Visible light spectrum
The separation of visible light into its different colors is known as
dispersion
.
ROYGIBV is the order of the colors via wavelength on the spectrum (red has the longest)
